Job Description

The Special Events Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing KID signature events from creation to execution including logistics, negotiations, scheduling, committee and sponsor relations; and acquisition of event needed items such as, but not limited to, auction items. As a fundraising professional, the special events manager role includes researching, identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and donors. In addition, this position will act as a KID liaison for community events via communication and representation. Must assist the Advancement Team in identifying event participants with the potential to give major gifts to the Agency and assist in donor strategy and solicitation.  Specific marketing efforts to promote the agency’s mission through public speaking and written presentations, and appeals required. This position also requires creativity in articulation and design of written presentations; supportive coordination with the KID leadership team. Must uphold, improve, and promote the positive image of Kids In Distress. Must possess excellent organizational and management skills and have the ability to motivate direct staff. This position reports to the Director of Advancement.

Skills / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations or related field preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in marketing and special events; or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. Superb written and verbal communication skills essential. Must be knowledgeable of all aspects of special events planning, including securing sponsorships, site selection, negotiations, scheduling, and agenda planning. Experience and success supervising special event volunteers and achieving fundraising goals.
